Tablewise converts PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint into Markdown that keeps the table structure and says where every file came from. Built for RAG pipelines that have to answer with the right number and prove it.
No card. No AI in the loop. Nothing leaves your machine on the CLI.
A real financial table has three levels: hotel, year, scenario, month.
Generic converters flatten it into seventy columns named Unnamed,
drop the formulas and turn a percentage into 0.8769. The model
then invents the answer.
| Unnamed: 0 | Unnamed: 1 | Unnamed: 2 | Unnamed: 3 | |-----------|-----------|-----------|-----------| | ADR | 120.5 | 110 | 105.25 | | Occupancy | 0.8769 | | | | RevPAR | | | |
| Hotel | 2026 | 2026 | 2026 | | | Real | Budget | Last year | | | Jan | Feb | Jan | | ADR | 120.50 | 110 | 105.25 | | Occupancy | 87.69% | | | | RevPAR | (formula not calculated) | | |
Merged cells, multi-level headers, hidden sheets, date formats, percentages and unevaluated formulas are read as what they are, not as empty cells.
Every file starts with source, engine and
converted. Your retrieval layer can cite the original
document and filter by how it was parsed.
No model, no network, no clever guessing. Same bytes in, same Markdown out. The CLI and the desktop app never send a document anywhere.
The engines are identical. Pick the surface that fits your team.
One command, one file. Scripts, cron and agents.
$ tablewise budget.xlsx budget.xlsx → ~/md-repo/budget.md
Pick a document, pick a folder, get the Markdown. For people who do not use a terminal.
macOS and Windows. Local only.
One HTTP call, per-month plans, nothing to install.
POST /v1/convert Authorization: Bearer tw_live_… file=@budget.xlsx
