Terms of service

Version 2026-10-22

1. The service

Tablewise converts documents you send to Markdown. The CLI and desktop app run on your machine under the MIT licence and are outside these terms; these terms cover the hosted API at api.tablewise.dev and this website.

2. Account and keys

You are responsible for keeping your API key secret. A key is a credential: anyone with it can spend your quota. Tell us immediately if it leaks and we will revoke it.

3. Acceptable use

You may convert documents you own or are authorised to process. You may not use the service to break the law, to process material you have no right to, or to attack the service or other customers. Automated scanning, load testing and reselling the API as your own product require a written agreement.

4. Quotas, plans and overage

Each plan includes the units listed at pricing. A request that would exceed the monthly quota is refused with 402 quota_exceeded unless overage is enabled. Overage is billed at $0.015 per unit at the end of the month. Failed conversions are refunded.

5. Payment

Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe. Cancelling stops future charges; access continues to the end of the paid period. The first payment of any plan is refundable within 14 days.

6. Availability

We aim for 99.5% monthly availability on Business and make no formal commitment on Free, Starter or Pro. Maintenance is announced when it can affect you. The service is provided "as is"; conversion quality is documented and tested but no output is guaranteed to be error-free.

7. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect damages or lost profits. Nothing here limits liability for wilful misconduct or for rights that cannot be waived.

8. Your data

Documents are yours. We process them only to return the conversion and delete them afterwards. See Privacy and the DPA.

9. Changes and law

We announce material changes 30 days in advance. These terms are governed by Spanish law; courts of Málaga, Spain, unless mandatory consumer rules say otherwise.
